Lord-Lieutenant for West Yorkshire Cadet

Citation

Cadet Sergeant Jonathan Pennells joined Yeadon Detachment in 2003. He is a very bright and personable Cadet who thoroughly enjoys Cadet service and has taken an active part in all aspects of Cadet Force life. Jonathan is involved in the care and maintenance of the War Memorials and War Graves in the Horsforth area of Leeds and is a regular standard bearer for the Royal British Legion at Wakefield Cathedral.

Jonathan has completed his three star award and only requires two subjects to complete his four star award. He has achieved his Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award and is well on the way towards his Silver. He holds a current Lifesaver Plus First Aid Certificate and is taking part in the AFR BTEC scheme

Jonathan has just completed his GCSE examinations and anticipates good results. He is very confident and has no difficulty with public speaking or undertaking official duties. He is a senior Cadet within C Company and is well liked by his fellow Cadets, Adult Instructors and Officers. He is a good influence and role model for the other Cadets in C Company.

A Lord-Lieutenant's Certificate is an award of high merit of which a recipient may be justly proud.
It is awarded to a member of the Cadet Force who is considered to have given exceptional service
beyond the normal call of duty.
It is intended to supplement Honours bestowed by HM The Queen in the New Year and Birthday Honours Lists.

The Certificate is in the form of a mounted scroll signed by the Lord-Lieutenant of the County and is generally presented by the Lord-Lieutenant at a ceremony hosted by a local unit.
