Lord-Lieutenant for West Yorkshire Cadet

Citation

Cadet Flight Sergeant Katherine Suddaby joined the ATC on 17 May 2004. She made rapid progress academically and was awarded her Staff Cadet qualification in October 2006. She has been awarded Best Female Cadet in her Squadron for the last 3 years.

Katherine has achieved almost 10 hours flying in the Grob Tutor and Vigilant glider. She has completed a Gliding Scholarship and been awarded her Silver Wings. She has represented the Wing at the Joint Cadet Forces First Aid Competition at Frimley Park, attended a number of RAF Camps and represented the Wing at the overseas camp at Rheindahlen in Germany.

Katherine has been very active on the fund-raising front within the community and has raised £5000 towards a Fund-Raising Trip to Peru later this summer. She is particularly good at getting the best from the cadets and is an excellent role model with lots of common sense. Confident and articulate, she is always immaculate in her appearance and consistent in her behaviour.

Katherine achieved 11 GCSEs in June 2006 all at A*. She hopes to study Mathematical Engineering at university after completing her A Levels.

A Lord-Lieutenant's Certificate is an award of high merit of which a recipient may be justly proud.
It is awarded to a member of the Cadet Force who is considered to have given exceptional service
beyond the normal call of duty.
It is intended to supplement Honours bestowed by HM The Queen in the New Year and Birthday Honours Lists.

The Certificate is in the form of a mounted scroll signed by the Lord-Lieutenant of the County and is generally presented by the Lord-Lieutenant at a ceremony hosted by a local unit.
