Lord-Lieutenant for West Yorkshire Cadet

 


Citation

Leading Cadet Samuel Brodie is a smart, polite Cadet who has been a member of Bradford Sea Cadets for 3 years; during that time he has gained many qualifications, not least a 1st Class Seamanship Ropework and Rigging, 2nd Class First Aid and has commenced qualifying in Chartwork. On the water he has qualified BCU 2 Star in Canoeing, RYA Sailing Stage 3 and RYA Power Level 2. In addition to these he has a Piping Badge, an Expedition qualification, a Musicians Badge as well as shooting qualifications. He represented the Sea Cadets at the Tri Service Cadet shooting competition at Bisley.

Sam has taken part in fund-raising for the Poppy Appeal, bag packing for Unit funds, sponsored swims and Alexandra Rose Day collections.

Currently studying for his GCSEs at Hanson School in Bradford, Sam intends to remain at school to complete his A Levels and has ambitions for a career in the Royal Navy.

A Lord-Lieutenant's Certificate is an award of high merit of which a recipient may be justly proud.
It is awarded to a member of the Cadet Force who is considered to have given exceptional service
beyond the normal call of duty.
It is intended to supplement Honours bestowed by HM The Queen in the New Year and Birthday Honours Lists.

The Certificate is in the form of a mounted scroll signed by the Lord-Lieutenant of the County and is generally presented by the Lord-Lieutenant at a ceremony hosted by a local unit.
