Customers at local Morrison’s stores were offered a helping hand when York based Army Cadets from B Company, Yorkshire North & West ACF stepped in to help support a York charity.
The public responded very generously to the efforts of the cadets and a large amount of money was raised for local charity York Against Cancer (YAC).
Detachment Commander, Second Lieutenant (2nd Lt) Jonathan Walshaw said “I am proud of what the cadets have done over the past twelve months for York Against Cancer – the hard work and effort they have put in, knowing what a good cause it is. They deserve all of the credit for what has been achieved and the amount they have collected towards this deserving local charity.”
2nd Lt Walshaw attended the York Rocks Against Cancer fundraising concert at The Grand Opera House, York where he presented a cheque for £1,100 to Julie Russell, General Manager of YAC on behalf of B Company.
Julie said: “The cadets did brilliantly. We’re really grateful to them for giving up so much of their free time to raise money for us.”
