Meet Trevor Edgar, Head of Finance for RFCA YH
Welcome to the RFCA YH, Trevor. Tell us about yourself.
I am a lifelong servant of crown and country. I was an Army Cadet whilst at school and joined the Regular Army at 16. After serving four years in the Infantry including a tour in South Armagh, I transferred to the Royal Army Pay Corps and subsequently to the Adjutant Generals Corps where I trained to be a Chartered Management Accountant retiring as a Warrant Officer Class 1.
Once you left regular service, you continued your military duty
Yes, I was immediately commissioned into the Reserve Army serving at East and West Riding Regiment, 4 RYORKS and LUOTC, completing audit, instructing Adventurous Training and running ranges. I served in UK, Germany, Cyprus, Hong Kong, Borneo and Kuwait before retiring from the Army. I was then employed by the Civil Service for 10 years as an Accountant at RHQ YORKS managing the Regimental Charities at C2 (HEO).
You’ve just returned to England after living ‘across the pond’?
Yes! I recently returned to England after living in Canada for three years where I was Director of Finance at a large private school in Calgary. I’m a qualified Chartered Management Accountant, ACMA, CGMA, CPA certified and read Accounting at Aberdeen, BSc. Accounting. I’m definitely a ‘numbers’ person.
When not working with numbers, how do you enjoy spending your free time?
I really enjoy golf, fly fishing, coin collecting and travel.
Thanks Trevor and welcome to RFCA YH. It’s great to have you on board.
