After two years’ absence from the town, the 3rd Battalion the Royal Anglian Regiment is celebrating its return to Grimsby by throwing open the doors of the Army Reserve Centre on Westward Ho and welcoming members of the community who want to find out more about life as a Reservist with the newly formed 4 Company.
The event, which is free to enter, will take place between 10am and 4pm on Saturday 8th July 2017 and will include demonstrations of weapons and dismounted close-combat equipment, and cooking in the field. 250 Medical Squadron will also be in attendance with a field hospital and the local Army cadets will be recruiting too.
Regimental Sub Unit Support Officer (RSUSO) Warrant Officer Class 2 (WO2) Ski Okopskyj believes the event will be very enjoyable and particularly useful for those who may have considered joining the Reserve Forces.
He said: “The event will be very family orientated and will give members of the local community the opportunity to meet Army Reservists based in Grimsby and find out what the Army Reserve has to offer.
“As well as paid training and the opportunity to learn a wide range of transferable skills, becoming a Reservist also gives recruits the chance to make new friends and be part of a team that supports the modern Army and the local community.”
