Deputy Chief Executive

Applications are invited for the post of Deputy Chief Executive (DCE) of the Reserve Forces and Cadets Association for Yorkshire and The Humber (RFCA YH), based in York. This is a Crown Service Grade C1 post which will become vacant on 1st September 2020.

The RFCA YH delivers 3 core outputs: Cadet and Youth, Estates, and Engagement. The DCE, as a C1 grade, is a member of the senior leadership team, along with the CE, Head of Engagement and Head of Estates and leads on the delivery of Cadets and Youth.

The DCE is responsible to the Chief Executive (CE) of the RFCA YH in addition to leading for the Association on Youth and Cadets, and deputises for the CE when necessary.

The DCE is responsible for the cost effective running of the Association’s executive staff and line manages the following roles:

–          School Cadet Expansion Officer – C2 Crown Servant
–          2 Cadet Executive Officers – C2 Crown Servant
–          Head of Support Services – D Grade Crown Servant
–          PA/Youth and Cadet Administrative Officer – E1 Crown Servant

Applicants must have performed a senior management role and have budget holding experience, along with a knowledge of the Armed Forces and the Reserves. They should be IT literate and have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact at a variety of levels.

The position is a full-time appointment working 37 hours per week (Monday-Friday). The role will require the candidate to work outside of the core hours, as required, and on the occasional weekend/Public Holiday, as directed by the Chief Executive. The core working hours are:

–          Monday – Thursday: 08.30 – 16.30
–          Friday: 08.30 – 16.00

The salary for the role is £39,511 pa, and the successful candidate will be eligible to join the CRFCA Pension Scheme. The annual leave entitlement starts at 25 days (excluding Bank Holidays) and increases to 30 days with 5 years’ service. Prior employment with the Armed Forces or another Government Department will count towards qualifying years’ service.

An Association car is provided with the role and applicants must have a current driving licence and be prepared to live within a commutable distance of York.

Cadet Administrative Assistant
for Yorkshire North and West Army Cadet Force 

Applications are invited for the post of Cadet Administrative Assistant (CAA) based at the Headquarters of the Yorkshire North and West Army Cadet Force (YNW ACF) in Strensall, York. This is a Crown Service Grade E1 (AHW) post and will become vacant in June 2020.

The candidate must have military service experience at Warrant Officer/SNCO level and will have recently held the appointment of RQMS/CQMS (or equivalent). An understanding of Military transport procedures is required and the candidate will need to be a qualified MOD Transport Operator.

They should be IT literate and have a good working knowledge of Microsoft applications. The candidate must be able to demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills and be able to work both independently, or as part of a team.

The position is a full-time appointment working 37 hours per week (Monday-Friday). The role will require the candidate to work outside of the core hours, as required, and on the occasional weekend/Public Holiday, as directed by the Chief Executive. The core working hours are:

–          Monday – Thursday: 08.30 – 16.30
–          Friday: 08.30 – 16.00

The salary for the role is £23,724 pa, on an all hours worked basis, and the successful candidate will be eligible to join the CRFCA Pension Scheme. The annual leave entitlement starts at 25 days (excluding Bank Holidays) and increases to 30 days with 5 years’ service. Prior employment with the Armed Forces or another Government Department will count towards qualifying years’ service. The appointment will be for a probationary period of 6 months initially.

An Association vehicle is provided with the role and applicants must have a current driving licence and be prepared to live within a commutable distance of York.
