Cadets return to in-person training

21.04.2021

Sea Cadets and Air Cadets have returned to in-person training in line with Government guidance.

In the Army Cadet Force, cadets from Yorkshire North & West region (pictured) have begun to meet once again, along with some detachments from the Humberside and South Yorkshire region.

“After all the disruptions, our cadets are delighted to be back on the waters and doing what they love doing most,” said Lieutenant Mary Atkin-Johnson, of Scarborough Sea Cadets.

“We’ve been training outdoors for a couple of weeks now and more recently have returned to indoor training with small groups, ensuring we have all our Covid safety precautions in place.”

Summer Camps

As well as the return to normal training, units are also looking forward to Summer Camps returning this summer.

“We’ve done a lot of planning and are confident we can put in place all the measures we need to take to deliver a safe camp for our cadets this summer,” said cadet executive officer for Yorkshire (North and West) Army Cadet Force Tom Woodall.

“We’ve changed the venue from Wathgill to  Strensall because we feel that’s the best place for us to be this year. But we’re delighted that we’ve retained so many adult volunteers over the lockdown periods and they will be at the heart of our efforts to make Summer Camp 2021 something that’s truly memorable for all the cadets who come.”
