Meet Sophie Henson, the new SMIT AO for RFCA YH. We caught up with Sophie and got the chance to get to know her….
Hi Sophie! Can you quickly introduce yourself?
I was previous a cadet with the AFC Strensall for three years, enjoying first aid competitions and overnight camps. Growing up my dad was also in the army allowing me a familiarity with the environment, and more helpfully the acronyms with the RFCA!
What are your future plans?
Having just finished University in Manchester, gaining an English degree, I have returned to York hopeful to help support the cadet infrastructure to allow more teenagers to have the opportunity to attend cadets as I did.
What do you do in your role with RFCA YH?
In my new role I am mainly providing admin assistance for the estates team, as well as helping maintain the help desk and reporting any faults. (A key part of my job is also providing the office dogs with lots of pats!)
What do you enjoy in your spare time when not working?
I hope to gain essential skills from the job to help me in the future perhaps working in a publishers as I spend most of my free time reading fantasy novels!
Thanks for chatting with us Sophie. Welcome to the team. It’s great to have you on board.
