Humberside and South Yorkshire ACF has a new sports officer and she’s been helping cadets keep active while they stay at home.
Liz Millard was commissioned to the rank of Second Lieutenant last autumn and is studying a sports degree with Hull University with the aim of becoming a secondary school PE teacher.
Weekly challenges
Since her appointment as sports officer, she has been setting cadets weekly challenges to keep them motivated while they are still unable to meet up physically in their units.
As well as uploading keep-fit videos for cadets to access, Liz’s challenges have included:
- Climbing the height of Big Ben with trips upstairs
- Doing 25 press-ups a day to raise awareness of mental health
- Bouncing a tennis ball with a frying pan as many times as you can.
New focus
“It’s great to be able to keep our cadets involved and give them a new focus each week,” she said.
“For many of us, it’s not the best of times so it’s good to be able to achieve small challenges together.”
