Warmest congratulations go to three members of the wider reserve and cadet forces’ family in Yorkshire and the Humber who were honoured in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List.
Lieutenant Colonel Wayne Pledger who became the RFCA’s deputy chief executive in August after serving 39 years in the British Army, was awarded an MBE.
Grandad for the cadets
Adult instructor Keith Daniel who has volunteered with the Army Cadet Force’s unit at Wetherby Young Offenders’ Institution for the last ten years and has been described as ‘the grandad the cadets have never had’ was awarded a British Empire Medal.
For his services to the Scarborough community during the Covid-19 pandemic, Sub-Lieutenant Gareth Davies of Scarborough Sea Cadets was awarded an MBE.
Outstanding individuals
The RFCA’s chief executive Jason Wright said: “We are immensely proud of these three outstanding individuals who have made such a magnificent contribution to the cadet movement in Yorkshire and the Humber and, as military veterans, to the UK forces as a whole.
“They are all highly deserving of the honours the Queen has awarded them and we are grateful for the work they continue to do for our army cadets.”
