“I’m a civil servant in my day job but in my spare time I’m an RAF reservist serving as a Logistics Chef with 607 Squadron, meaning that I can go out into the field to cater for the troops as well as in a mess facility on base.
“In my role I can chef for any of the services and have actually cheffed for the army and the Royal Navy. I was on deployment on HMS Queen Elizabeth for eight months, it’s a great profession if you want to go and see the world.
Opportunities within the RAF reserves
“The opportunities within the RAF reserves are absolutely amazing. Taskings come in all of the time, there’s always different types of adventures for you to go on, so you can go out on an exercise on adventure training.
“Being a reservist makes me extremely proud because not only am I getting a lot from being a reserve and being in the Royal Air Force but the Royal Air Force are getting a lot from me and I’m able to go out and serve my country and enhance my life.”
