MCVC receives Silver ERS
In June 2023, The Military Community Veterans Centre (MCVC) was recognised by the Ministry of Defence for its commitment to the armed forces community.
MCVC has been named a Silver award-winning organisation under the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS), delivered locally by the Reserve Forces and Cadets Association for Yorkshire and the Humber.
Being forces-friendly
Rotherham MCVC welcomes applications from Veterans, Reservists and Cadet Force Adult Volunteers. In respect of Reservists, MCVC will support successful applicants in the discharge of their commitment to the Reserve Forces by providing additional annual leave to support mobilisations and annual training.
In the below video Major Adrian Hunt DL (pictured above top) from MCVC explains why being a supportive employer is so important.
Primary objectives
One of MCVC’s primary objectives is to provide support and welfare services for our veterans and to assist a move into civilian life. For the past 18 months, they have been building networks with other organisations within the community to ensure collaborative work provides a better overall support service to our veterans. Organisations MCVC engages with include Rorherham Metropolitan Borough Council, Rotherham VAR, Royal British Legion, Rotherham United, Rotherham Titans, Thurcroft Veterans, Help 4 Homeless Veterans, Daparian Foundation, Hull for Heroes and Sporting Force. Their work has been recognised for its positive impact with the Queen’s Award for Outstanding Voluntary Service for work with the veterans’ community and the High Sheriff’s Award for services to veterans.
