Richard Fox, an army veteran, continues his service with the Army Reserve as Company Sergeant Major at the University Training Officers’ Regiment. He balances his duties with his role as Operations Director at PPSS Group and leads their efforts to be a forces-friendly employer. Recently awarded Silver on the Employer Recognition Scheme, Richard is working towards preparing PPSS Group to achieve Gold.
Richard says, “I sort of climbed the ladder in the civilian world being a leader in the military. Those transferable leadership skills have helped me in the civilian world as well being able to make quick decisions and think about things and be a strong leader so I think for any employer who you know is looking at a CV with information that someone has spent time in the armed forces, I would definitely say to them to speak to that individual and just find out for yourself what they’re like. I tend to find that ex-military people have a very good can-do approach ready to work and not afraid to get their hands dirty.”
