This year’s Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant’s Awards will be staged online to comply with new social-distancing rules introduced to tackle Covid-19.
But the RFCA is determined to make sure all four award events are still occasions to remember for the outstanding cadets, cadet force adult volunteers and reserves they honour.
Paying tribute
“The Lord-Lieutenant Awards are among the biggest and most important events of the year for both the RFCA and the region’s Lord-Lieutenants,” said RFCA head of engagement Phil Walton.
“It’s a chance to pay tribute to some of the brilliant individuals who make a real difference to their cadet or reserve unit and we will be pulling out all the stops to recreate in a digital format as much of ceremonial atmosphere of the in-person awards events as we can.”
Winners showcased
Each the winners have been informed of the change and they will be showcased in a video which will be streamed online, via the RFCA’s Facebook page and elsewhere, at the same time – 7pm – as the events themselves would have taken place on the following dates:
- South Yorkshire – 8 October
- West Yorkshire – 20 October
- North Yorkshire – 22 October
- East Riding of Yorkshire – 29 October.
