Sporting event brings together cadets, reserves, veterans and military personnel
On Sunday 9 November, 150 Regiment Royal Logistic Corps (RLC) held their annual Remembrance Day Cup ice hockey fixture at Hull Ice Arena, Hull. The header between Hull Seahawks and Sheffield Steeldogs ice hockey teams, who are part of the National Ice Hockey League, brought their best players to the rink to win the coveted cup which was purchased by Armed Forces personnel with support from several Service charities. Prior to the match, a Remembrance Parade was conducted with all marching contingents escorting both teams onto the ice. This year was the biggest parade conducted at Hull Ice Arena to date since it began in 2018, playing for a standing room only sold-out crowd – it’s largest in the arena’s whole season.
Local Veterans’ Associations, The Royal British Legion, Single Service Regulars and Reservists as well as regional cadets all attended the game and participated in the commemorative ceremony.

Everyone wins
The Sheffield Steeldogs defeated the Hull Seahawks with a hard-fought game resulting in a very tight 5-4 score. Not only winners on the ice, The Hull Seahawks are in the process of pledging their support to the Armed Forces by signing the Armed Forces Covenant. In addition, since this event started in 2018, over £10,000 has been donated from the sale of the commemorative shirts designed by the teams to raise money for Service charities. With strong ties to Hull-based Middleton Barracks, the Hull Seahawks have also recruited several personnel to join the Armed Forces, both Regular and Reserve, from ice hockey events in Hull .
The Remembrance Day Cup fixture will remain in Hull, demonstrating the local commitment to the Armed Forces and Cadet Associations.
