Nationally, 156 employers achieved Gold Awards for supporting the armed forces community by providing 10 extra paid days leave for reservists and having supportive HR policies in place for veterans, reserves and cadet force adult volunteers as well as spouses and partners of those who serve in the Armed Forces.
Making a difference
“Great employers make a huge difference to the wider Armed Forces Community and I’m delighted and proud that we have so many supportive organisations in Yorkshire and the Humber,” said RFCA head of engagement Phil Walton.
“Each of them is rightly being recognised by the Ministry of Defence with the highest award any organisation can achieve and they truly deserve this prestigious honour.”
Honoured to be recognised
Chief executive officer, Andrew Pooley, of Leeds-based patient transport company ERS Medical was honoured by his company’s success in achieving Gold. He said: “As someone with an army reserve background, I fully support the Armed Forces Covenant with our commitment to those who serve or have served in the Armed Forces, and their families.”
“We pledge and clearly demonstrate support to the defence and the armed forces communities and are proud to align our values with the Armed Forces Covenant. Being honoured with the Gold Award this year is a testament to what we are doing and will continue to do for our forces.”
